Motorised curtains in India: what to know before you buy
How motorised curtains work, wired vs battery motors, app and voice control, and what to plan before installation in an Indian home.
Motorised curtains are one of the few smart-home upgrades people use every single day. Planning a few things early saves cost later.
Wired or rechargeable
- Wired motors need a power point near the top of the window. Best in new homes or during renovation.
- Rechargeable motors run for months on a charge and suit existing homes with no wiring.
Control
- Remote, wall switch, app, and voice through Alexa, Google or Apple Home.
- Schedules: open at sunrise, close at sunset.
- Scenes: close the sheers when the TV turns on.
Plan for
- Track type and curtain weight; heavy blackout needs a stronger motor.
- Wi-Fi coverage at the window.
- Manual pull in a power cut.
